30 Day Shred, Exeter & House Hunting!

Hello!

I recently started University again, so back to lectures I go! My timetable is pretty intense on Mondays and Tuesdays, so I've been fairly tired these past two days! I have Wednesdays and Thursdays off though..so I guess that makes up for it!

I've just started to do the 30 day shred, by Jillian Michaels, which is all on Youtube (Check out level one here!). Basically, the first 10 days you do an 'easy' workout (which is by no means easy), the 2nd 10 days you do a 'medium' workout, and the last 10 days you do a 'hard' workout. I am dreading the next few weeks! I am in so much pain!! I can't walk to fast, but I feel so so good. Me and my housemate are going to do it together, so hopefully we can motivate each other. I'll give you an update on how well I thought that it worked when I'm done!

I've also tried to eat healthy recently. Im a big chocolate lover - but I love water so I guess that helps. I've got lots of couscous, vegetables and soup, and hopefully I can stick to this. Im going on holiday to Bahrain soon (as one of my best friends lives out there), and then I'm heading to the Caribbean later on in the year. For these, I want to be as fit as possible and I want to look nice. I don't necessarily need to 'lose weight', but I want to tone up for myself and be able to feel comfortable and confident.

I recently visited Exeter for a friends birthday. She studies at University there, so it was interesting to go back into halls (as I'm no longer a fresher) and see how things are different there compared to where I am. Her halls were lovely, so it was quite homely to be there. The rooms were big enough for myself and a friend to stay in them, so that was nice. We went to Cote Brasserie (Website here), opposite Exeter Cathedral, and the food was flawless. I had the garlic bread to start with, followed by the Risotto Vert. I would have had a dessert but I was absolutely stuffed! If you're ever in the area where there is a Cote Brasserie (London definitely has some too!), definitely stop off and have dinner here.

Now that I'm back to normal at University, its time to start looking at houses for next year. Myself and 5 others are looking at 6 bedroom houses for next year, and let me tell you, you can find some absolutely awful things. The other night we viewed a house which was covered in mould. Not only this, but the carpet was ripped up and the kitchen was tiny. Infact, half the kitchen was in the living room! Half the rooms were currently unoccupied, and it makes me question if the landlords actually have a look round the properties!? Mind you, we looked at another one today and that was better, except one of the rooms smelt like a piece of old pepperoni! Gross.

Tonight I am celebrating for my birthday which is on Sunday. I can't quite comprehend that I'm not going to be a teenager anymore. I feel like I've achieved so many things, but for another 80 years (I hope!) imagine how much is going to change! I guess thats all to come. My family are visiting from home this weekend, so it'll be nice to see them for a meal and then have a nice stay in a hotel! It'll be nice to go out with all my friends tonight, so I need to have a nap!

So, tell me where your favourite places to go out to eat are, and also if anyones ever house hunted, tell me your stories on the worst houses you've ever come across!

Food for Thought...

Hello Everyone!

I think i'm going to try and update every Wednesday and Sunday (except maybe this coming week because its my birthday and I'm partying on Wednesday and its my actual birthday Sunday - As of next week I'll no longer be a teenager!). A little bit of a heavier topic this Sunday, but I also feel like one that needs to be understood and recognised a lot more than it is currently.

This week I was scrolling through weheartit.com, which is a website which I look at before I update my Tumblr, and I came across the photo above. It really got me thinking, and honestly I'd love to know everyone elses opinion.

It got me thinking about bullying. Everyone has experienced some form of bullying, whether it be being bullied, or seeing someone else get bullied. It also got me thinking about cyberbullying, because I spend a lot of my time on websites such as Youtube, Tumblr, Twitter and Facebook. Nowadays, comments on Youtube are filled with hate, Twitter is filled with 'indirects' and Facebook is the same. People have killed themselves over cyberbullying, such as Amanda Todd, whose youtube video went viral after she died, and I feel like this is a topic which people just skip over and don't understand. People sit behind a screen and type what they feel, not thinking how it may affect someone at the end of the comment. Yes, Youtubers may understand why they get 'hate', but they shouldn't have too. Zoella, for example, recently became under scrutiny due to her book being 'Ghost Written'. Okay, I agree that perhaps while she should have admitted it (IF it's even true), there is absolutely no reason why she should get 'hate' over this. Someone like Zoella creates content for other people to enjoy and watch and even read. She could stop at any point, and someday, someone will stop creating content due to the lack of thought within peoples comments. In my experience, the consequences of cyberbullying need to be more widely thought about. You do not know the person behind the screen, so why should you feel the need or feel like you have the right to tell them what you don't like?

Now, think about this. If every single time you said something nasty about someone, a scar appeared on their body, would you still let those words leave your mouth?
If what was being written "behind the screen" actually physically scarred someone, would you type out that hate comment?

In my opinion, if words physically scarred, either everyone would be covered in scars, or the world would be a much happier place. It would definitely make me think twice before speaking.

I would also recommend that if anyone feels like you are being targeted, tell someone. A parent, Close Friend, Teacher. Do not tackle this by yourself!

As always, let me know what you think on this topic! and also, a much happier topic next Wednesday!

I travelled to London!

Hello Everyone!

Yesterday, I decided to take myself on a trip up to London. Seeing as I'm home for few days, I decided that it was a trip that was much needed after exams.

Coming home after exams has been nice, even though it is so soon after Christmas. Its nice to catch up with my family, even though they work and I've been moping around the house, watching films, playing the sims - a favourite of mine (although I would never outright admit that to someone I haven't met before!), eating, sleeping and doing the task that nobody ever wants to do - finding a house at university! Maybe I can make an update on that in the near future!

Anyway, Since I was home, and in the close proximity of London - about an hour train journey away to the centre - I decided that I needed some TLC, and also wanted to explore. I jumped on a train to Sloane Square so I could explore Brandy Melville. Brandy Melville is a shop on Kings Road, and is one of two shops in the UK. They do a range of American style clothes, as it is mainly located in California. They are a laid back style and in a 'one size fits most', and as I'm not 'petite' I didn't expect these clothes to fit me, however there are a range of different styles, such as slouchy tees, vest tops, jumpers, cardigans, crop tops etc, and I wanted to buy the entire store! I ended up purchasing a t-shirt and one necklace - as the jewellery is affordable and so cute.

*Brandy Melville doesn't have an online website yet, but they have an instagram and a twitter account, so be sure to check those out!

I then headed up to Oxford Street. I normally enjoy being in places like London but I can't stand crowds that are all rushing to get somewhere. I went into New Look to exchange shoes, and then wandered into Forever 21 for an explore. I love Forever 21 for its cheap prices and quality clothes, however yesterday I couldn't find anything that interested me and therefore decided not to buy anything. I also brought some scrunchies for a friend from Accessorize, which I really like and may have to purchase these 90's favourites for myself.

After, I went to explore Covent Garden. I honestly think this is one of my favourite places to go in London. Its got quite a good atmosphere, with many street performers in the evening and all day on the weekend. Theres also loads of theatres around the area, and a few I really want to see right now are Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Lion King. Maybe I can convince my parents to come with me! Click here to go to Covent Gardens website!

I went into a cute little coffee shop/Belgian Bakery called 'Le Pain Quotidien' (which means Daily Bread). It was cold weather yesterday so I got a warm hot chocolate, where you got a hot cup of milk and cream and a little pot of warm chocolate, meaning you could pour as much chocolate in as you wanted! I also accompanied this with a Belgian Waffle, which was delicious. I would definitely recommend this!

After this, I decided to travel home. But today in London made me realise a few things:
1. Large crowds who are rushing to places are not my thing! Why do people who are not working feel the need to RUN past you on an escalator, or RUN past you to get to the train which isn't even at the platform yet?!?
2. No matter where you go in London, you are not by yourself. There are thousands of people with you.
3. You will get lost, but do not worry. Explore, take in the surroundings and enjoy where you are, as this may be the only time you'll every be there!

London is for sure a city thats close to my heart as I've grown up near here for 19 years. I don't think that I'd want to live there, but I love visiting and going shopping.

Where's your favourite places in London? and What is your favourite City?
Leave then in the comments below!

Sunday 18 January 2015

Welcome to Lucy Victoria

It seems absolutely crazy to me that I've never attempted to start a blog before. I guess I never seemed to think that other people would be interested in reading it, and I'm now at the stage of my life where I want to document things for me, rather than for other peoples entertainment.

I am ambitious, and hope to travel around the world in a few years. As a child, I travelled to many different places and I still continue that travelling during holidays with my family. However, it was the continuous travel when I was little that created my love for it. As of yet, I'm still waiting to go towards Asia and Australia. It is these places which intrigue me because they are still so unknown in my mind. One of my housemates travelled around that way during a gap year, and many of my other friends are also in that area. It makes me regret my decision to continue straight on with further education, however at that point in time I did not have the funds to explore. I hope that when I get my degree in a years time, I can work to build up funds which will then lead me to fulfil my dreams.

Following on from that, I'm actually studying at university right now. I am studying Social Science, which to me is actually very interesting. Its much harder than you would think, but when a good mark comes through it feels very rewarding and I enjoy learning. I don't enjoy getting up for the lectures, the hangovers, and the messiness that living in a house with my best friends entails, but then I love finding something I am interested in, going out exploring or clubbing as well as living with my best friends. Its all very rewarding and exciting.

Honestly, I don't know how often I'll update this blog. I guess you should keep checking back over time to see if anything new has been added. I also don't know exactly what i'll post on here. Maybe things that I've brought recently, something thats interesting me at the moment, or maybe one of my days. Either way, I'd love for you to join me on this adventure, and maybe in a few years you'll be reading about my adventures abroad, my graduation, and anything else exciting to come from the future. To 2015, Hello!
